PARENT COACHING INSTITUTE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING PROGRAM
Applications for Program Accepted Until March 1, 2009
BELLEVUE, WA—(February 19, 2009)—The Parent Coaching Institute (PCI), a non-profit organization, is now accepting applications for its spring program. The PCI offers a one-year, distance learning graduate certificate program for parent coaching, in collaboration with Seattle Pacific University. Classes are held by phone with at least 3 optional in-person workshops held each year. Each quarter, a select number of applicants enter the program. Applicant requirements include a completed undergraduate degree and at least two years of experience working with parents. The PCI is accepting applications for spring program entrance until March 1, 2009. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the PCI at (425) 401-1519 or view the PCI's Web site at www.thepci.org.
Students in the PCI's Parent Coach Certification® Training Program typically include teachers, social workers, parent educators, counselors, and health workers. These experienced family support providers have found that the PCI's program provides the tools and education they need to offer better support to parents facing a variety of parenting challenges. These parenting challenges include, but are not limited to, balancing work and family, school selection, setting firm boundaries, self-care, single parenting, controlling media influences, making parenting a priority, recognizing appropriate developmental behavior, new baby, and recognizing and celebrating successes.
Debra Geraghty, PCI student and MSW from Boise, Idaho is quoted as saying "I must say that this course work is so much better than my graduate school program for social work. It is better written, more interesting, and more user friendly on a big scale. I started this program on blind faith and I'm so glad that I did. Every time I sit down to read or write I feel very blessed to have found this program."
Rhonda Moskowitz, PCI Certified Parent Coach® and parent educator from Columbus, Ohio is quoted as saying "I have found my calling was the greatest compliment you could have given me! I am thrilled and touched. Thank you so much. Leaving educational administration was the right thing for me to do. Being a parent coach is my path and I love it!"
Donna Wallington, PCI Certified Parent Coach® and parent educator from Tualatin, Oregon is quoted as saying "I very much appreciate the PCI and the thorough training program we have been provided with. I can't imagine how any other training program could be any better. The PCI systems approach, along with the use of AI, presents a solid guideline for successful coaching."
