In my coaching practice I combine my knowledge of healthy brain development and an affirming strengths-based approach to support parents. Through the coaching process, parents can regain confidence and restore creativity in raising their children. I am especially interested in working with families who value relationships and living whole and healthy lives. In addition to my PARENT COACH CERTIFICATION®, I am training to become a certified mediator. Although there were challenges along the way, my husband and I raised a wonderful son who is now a mature, independent and creative adult.

I am an adoptive parent of three fabulous teenagers who have been my teachers and my inspiration. My coaching practice blends my experience as a parent with my expertise as a masters-level community health educator to help parents bridge the gap between what they are told will work and what really does work for their family. I have had experience with ADHD, adolescent depression, Dyslexia and Sensory Integration Disorder, and I understand fully what it means to be a parent in chaos. I work with individual parents and couples to help them gain clarity, set appropriate boundaries and rediscover the joy in parenting. I am co-founder of Imagine Bainbridge, a grassroots organization advocating for meaningful connections between youth and adults.

For the past 30 years I have specialized in learning about families and their young children, especially infants and toddlers. I have spent considerable time as an elementary school teacher and currently I work as a parent education instructor at Bates Technical College, in addition to parent coaching. It is clear to me that nurturing very early learning is about supporting and encouraging parents to cultivate healthy relationships with their children. In my coaching I focus on strengths to find hope and revitalization. I advocate for the job and joy of parenting and enjoy coaching couples as well.

I am a newly retired elementary teacher with 25 years of experience in working with children and families. I'm also a mom, step-mom and grandmother. I became a parent coach because I believe all parents could benefit from a knowledgeable, positive supporter to help them fine tune their parenting practices, explore ways to reduce stress, and focus on what matters most to them.

I specialize in working with:

Families with elementary school-aged children—What are the developmental norms for middle childhood? How can you advocate for your child and maintain a positive relationship with your child's school? How can you help your child deal with issues like bullies or peer pressure? Does your parenting style match your child's personality?

Mothers in transition—During transitional times we all need support as we restructure our lives. Are you entering or leaving the workforce? Divorcing or remarrying? Changing jobs, careers, or starting a business? Dealing with changes in personal health or the health of a loved one? Facing an empty nest, or adult children returning to the nest?

Call or email if you have questions or would like to schedule a free consultation session.

My goal as a PCI Certified Parent Coach® is to partner with parents in a collaborative relationship, combining their strengths (which they may have forgotten in tough times) with my child development and parenting knowledge. Together we:

  1. Discover what is working in the family's system, and use that information to address challenges.
  2. Develop a dream for the future, picturing the elements of those challenges resolved, and feeling the satisfaction and relief that realized dreams will provide.
  3. Design action steps for addressing the challenges. Together, we devise, test and "tweak" that design. We use the parental and family strengths, combined with my abilities to provide new resources, pertinent child development information, effective parenting techniques and modified alternatives—which fit your family.
  4. Recognize a Destiny—Acknowledge both the small steps and the transformations those small steps make in your family's living system. You can do this!

I have a great respect for the children we parents are entrusted with. My ability to walk in a child's shoes to explain their actions is one of my strengths. I am the parent of grown children, so I have also walked more then a mile in those shoes. It is my goal, through coaching, to support those who value this job of parenting as much as I do.

Let's face it—parenting is a wonderful and joy-filled experience, but at times it can be the most difficult job in the world! During those difficult times, having some additional support that is just a phone call away can help you get through the rough patches. My mission as a parent coach is to provide support, encouragement and compassion, so that each parent can align their everyday parenting decisions with their dreams for who they want their children and family to become. Throughout the coaching process, my clients learn how to develop mindful parenting skills, so they can bring their long-term goals closer to their present lives.

As a parent coach, I can help you identify the systems already in place that support you, as well as work with you to design action steps to make choices that will ultimately bring greater satisfaction and success to your parenting. By helping you gain clarity of your long-term goals, I can help you move closer to fulfilling your dreams for your children and family. I look forward to talking with you.

As a coach my goal is to support parents in imagining, articulating and reaching their highest vision for their families. The coaching relationship attends deeply to the inner and outer worlds of families and to the interaction between the two. I nurture parents' ability to bring mindfulness to all aspects of their lives. This guides their journey toward their dream and brings relief from stress and scattered energy. My cumulative experience as a teacher, parent educator, and child and family counselor form the foundation on which my coaching lies.

As a PCI Certified Parent Coach®, I am passionate about families as a whole, as well as the distinctive roles of mothers and fathers. Not only is parenting the most important job we will ever have, it is the greatest potential influence in human society. I am a mother of two wonderful children, my son, age 4, and my daughter who is currently 15 months old. Shortly before my son was born, I left the corporate world after a successful 15-year career, working within small, medium and large Fortune 500 companies. Upon embarking on my new career as a mom, I found that running a family, has many similarities to running a business. It requires a great deal of planning, creativity, relationship building, and a lot of intuition. These are my personal areas of expertise. I enjoy working with parents of young children, because I can share so many parenting stories that are fresh in my mind and relevant in today's world. I am also passionate about coaching and the meaningful relationships I develop with my clients. I have been successfully coaching clients for eight years in the areas of life, career, relationships, and work/life balance. I have a B.A. degree in Psychology. My coaching process is straightforward, compassionate, honest, light-hearted, and aided by helpful tools and resources necessary for achieving greatness in your family. I am able to work with clients via phone and e-mail nationwide.

Many clients say that the end result is a feeling of peace. I have successfully guided my clients with the following:

  • Altruism, values, & morals
  • Bonding with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
  • Child development information (ages and stages)
  • Communication among family members
  • Defiant behavior and positive discipline techniques
  • Family mission statements and family plans
  • Household management, childhood chores
  • Kindergarten readiness
  • Managing TV & media usage
  • Personal organization
  • Routines and schedules
  • Self-Care (prioritizing time for yourself)
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Temper tantrums
  • Whining

I look forward to meeting you and working with you side by side as your number one supporter, and helping you and your family live life to the fullest with peace, harmony, and balance!

I have 20 years experience as a maternal-child health nurse, helping parents adjust to pregnancy, birth, newborns, along with navigating child rearing and family life. Eight years ago, I began facilitating a support group for mom's challenged by parenting their "spirited" children; families struggling with learning differences, adoption, behavior, emotional, and/or social challenges. Now as a PCI Parent Coach, I continue to work with parents at all stages of their parenting life and help them find the resilience and effective strategies for themselves and their children. My goal is to support each family's unique needs and help them transform their lives.

Receive Confidential Help Via the Telephone—No Child Care to Arrange
New Clients Receive 30 Minutes of Free Consultation

Parent coaching is intended to help a parent who is working through a parenting issue, such as:

  • a new parent adjusting to parenthood
  • a parent needing a better way to manage a toddler's roller coaster emotions
  • a parent exploring his/her child's school future
  • a parent curious about how to parent in a more positive way
  • parents interested in creating a parenting plan for raising their child(ren)
  • parents seeking common ground when there is a disagreement about how to parent
  • parents who are striving to balance the demands of work and family
  • parents who are parenting a child with a mental health issue

Parent coaching is not therapy. Therapy tends to focus on healing past emotional wounds and is often-times a much needed resource for the family. Parent coaching goes beyond therapy by helping a parent focus on finding and developing better strategies for parenting in the future.

Parent coaching is a very family friendly way to get help for the family. This confidential approach can occur in person (Puget Sound) or on the telephone. Telephone parent coaching takes away the need for finding a sitter for the child(ren) because the coaching call can happen while the child is napping or after bedtime when the time is right for the family. Also, parent coaching can occur while the parent is at work during the lunch break, if that fits the family schedule better.

My husband and I are actively and happily parenting two boys who are 14 and 10 years of age. We work to manage the many tugs and pulls on family life of their after school activities which include sports, music, and scouting. I have been working with families as a parent education instructor at a local community college for over ten years. I have found that sometimes parents need more help than just "knowing" what to do. This is where parent coaching comes in. I feel that parent coaching is the bridge to helping parents create and implement a parenting plan that works for their family.

Offering Parents:
  • Support
  • Education
  • Coaching
  • Encouragement
Offering the Community Family Friendly Classes:
  • What Do Children Need to Succeed?
  • What Kind of Parent Do You Want to Be?
  • What Are the Benefits of Your Parenting Style?
  • How Do You Parent Well?
